This wasn't in the original game, you must be playing the fan remake, which I have not played.
Someone on another forum said: "Grab the book in the abandoned library and read it. The library is a new addition. It's sort of hidden behind the tavern and the general store."

So In the original there was only one lever you just used without any code? or no lever?
