I just got the Police Quest Collection for christmas. I run it in XP, every game works fine except that Police Quest 2 runs with the PC Speaker. Is there a way to adjust this? Is there a way to run it with the soundcard with the midi sound like it´s uppose to? I can´t find a setup menu for any of the games.

PLEASE HELP and exlplain how I do this

thanks

/K

Do you have the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/VIVAPE-72474-Police-Quest-Compilation/dp/B000AYFPKQ/sr=8-1/qid=1167080954/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-4433760-0381717?ie=UTF8&s=videogames">brand-new version</a> that is designated for XP, or the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Vivendi-Universal-72560-Police-Collection/dp/B00001N2MI/sr=8-5/qid=1167080954/ref=pd_bbs_sr_5/102-4433760-0381717?ie=UTF8&s=videogames">older PQ Collection</a>? (Links go to box shots at Amazon)

At the bottom of <a href="http://www.tawmis.com/collector/Patches-Updates/Patches-Updates-Games/PoliceQuestUpdates.html">this page</a> there is an update patch made by a fan named Collector.

What kind of patch is that? I want to play the music in midi from the soundcard not from the speaker. Does this patch have anything to do with that?

Going from the information on that site, I would say that it probably won't address your question with the sound, no. However, I would suggest installing the patch(es) anyway--they really can help.

I don't know anything about the new collections (or Police Quest games in general), but see if you can find a file called "install.exe"--not setup. On the old DOS games, all you had to do was run that again to change sound settings after installing the game.

Please note I have no idea whether or not that will work for you--as I already mentioned, I don't have any of the new collections so I don't know how they are installed/setup, etc. Just throwing an idea out there. :)
