I thought it would be fun to draw KQ7-styled Rosella and Valanice looking more like they appeared in the previous games. So I did (essay-length explanitory description included).

(A side note: Shouldn't this subforum just be called "Fan Gallery" rather than "Fan Gallery Submissions"? We're not really submitting anything to SP, we're just posting our own creations. I'm not complaining, just hypothesizing that "Fan Gallery" would be a more accurate name.)

Oooh, nice! I played 5-7 (+MOE) long before I played 1-4 and I found it odd how Valanice and Rosella's outfits were so similar in 5 & 6, but then dramatically different in 7. Outfits, hair, face ... OK, pretty much everything. And for what it's worth, in MOE, even the portraits of Graham and Valanice in Castle Daventry show Valanice looking more like she does in 5 and 6. Aren't they taken from the character portraits in the CD-ROM version of KQ6?

I always thought her hairstyle in KQ7 made Valanice look more like Cinderella's stepmother from the Disney movie.

As for the forum name, I'll check on that. I think the title was originally intended so that visitors would "submit" things for SP by posting them on the forum.

At first, I thought they were, but I heard from another fan who had looked at the MOE resource files. She discovered that those paintings weren't ripped from KQ6, but were the original scans of the portraits. They hadn't been converted to 256 colors and were much more detailed than the KQ6 art.


I never thought of that until someone else pointed it out to me, but there does seem to be a resemblance.

Um, you mention that KQ7 had shortcomings Akril. Exactly what "shortcomings" are you talking about?

Just the ones that are complained about in just about every review of the game, i. e., the limitations of the single cursor, the differently styled graphics, the limited amount of savegame slots and the various bugs. These didn't bother me, but I still acknowledge them.
